  13. ======================================================================
  14. Thank you for your interest in CurveExpert 1.2!  
  15.  
  16. CurveExpert 1.2 is a comprehensive curve fitting system for Windows.  
  17. XY data can be modelled using a toolbox of linear regression models, 
  18. nonlinear regression models, interpolation, or splines.  Over 30 models
  19. are built-in, but custom regression models may also be defined by the 
  20. user.  Full-featured graphing capability allows thorough examination of 
  21. the curve fit.   The process of finding  the best fit can be automated by
  22. letting CurveExpert compare your data to each model to choose the best 
  23. curve.  This program was designed to be simple but powerful, so that all 
  24. users can obtain a model for their data quickly and easily.

  26. Documentation is provided in the form of a Windows help file.  This
  27. on-line manual is complete and does not need the supplement of a 
  28. printed copy.  This way, we conserve our Earth's valuable resources
  29. while at the same time reducing the cost of this software.

  40. SUPPORTED PLATFORMS

  42. CurveExpert has been released for the following platforms:

  44. 16-bit version:       Windows 3.1 or later
  45. 32-bit version:       Windows 3.1 or later + Win32s 1.30 or later
  46.                       Windows 95
  47.                       Windows NT 3.51 or later
  48.  
  49. Note that the 16-bit version is Windows 95 compatible, so it will
  50. run under Windows 95 as well as Windows 3.1.

  55. IF THE INSTALLATION PROGRAM FAILS WITH A GPF (16-bit version only)

  57. If the installer program fails with a General Protection Fault, 
  58. please restart Windows immediately.  CurveExpert has been installed
  59. correctly, and will run correctly once Windows has been restarted 
  60. after a fault of this type by the installer.

  62. I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience -- the installer is a 
  63. third party package that was purchased so that it could be bundled 
  64. with CurveExpert.  The author of the installer package and I are 
  65. currently communicating to solve this problem.

  69. REGISTRATION -- HOW TO REGISTER
  70. ======================================================================
  71. To order CurveExpert, open the help file by choosing 'Help' from the
  72. Help menu.  Then click the 'Register' button in the help file.  This
  73. will give directions for ordering CurveExpert as well as the order
  74. form.  The registration fee of $35 [16-bit version] or $40 [32-bit
  75. version] can be submitted via mail or by a credit card.

  77. Development of this software has taken countless hours of study, 
  78. programming, and debugging.  Please support the shareware concept 
  79. and register the software if you intend to keep and use it!  The 
  80. future of this product depends on the response that I receive from 
  81. you, the user.  If you would like for this project to continue and 
  82. grow, please send suggestions and register, if you use this program.

  86. INSTALLATION
  87. ======================================================================
  88. If you obtained this program from an Internet source, you must first 
  89. unzip CVXPTxxx.ZIP (using PkUnzip or WinZip -- if you don't have this, 
  90. go back to your ftp site and pick it up) to unpack all of the 
  91. distribution files.  Note that the xxx denotes the version number of
  92. CurveExpert that you have obtained (eg. version 1.21 will be cvxpt121.zip).
  93. From the Program Manager, File Manager, or your particular shell, select 
  94. File|Run and run the SETUP.EXE program that was included in your 
  95. CurveExpert distribution.

  97. The installation program will ask you where to install this software
  98. and give the space requirements required.  Also, you may give your
  99. name and company, if you are a registered user.  The rest of the process
  100. is automated -- CurveExpert will install itself onto your computer in
  101. the location you specified and will make its own Program Manager group.

  103. Should you ever want to uninstall CurveExpert, simply double-click
  104. on the UnInstall icon in the CurveExpert program manager group.  In
  105. Windows 95, go to the Control Panel|Add/Remove Hardware applet to
  106. uninstall CurveExpert.

  111. LEGAL MATTERS

  113. Read the Disclaimer Warranty section in the included help file.  Using
  114. CurveExpert 1.2 means that you agree to all terms stated in the 
  115. disclaimer.

  117. CurveExpert is Shareware.  You are hereby granted license to use 
  118. CurveExpert 1.2 for an evaluation period of 30 days, after which you 
  119. must pay the registration fee to continue using CurveExpert 1.2. However, 
  120. use of CurveExpert during the 30-day evaluation period is free of charge.

  122. You may make exact copies and distribute these copies of the Evaluation 
  123. version of CurveExpert 1.2 and its documentation as long the only charge
  124. applied, if there is a charge applied, is for the distribution of these 
  125. unmodified copies of CurveExpert.

  128. ANY and ALL copies of CurveExpert or its documentation. You are prohibited
